BIOGRAPHY
Gail Hazlehurst is a sculptor working in clay and has a B.F.A.
degree from University of Hawaii, audited a course in Exhibition Design and
Gallery management by Tom Klobe and has a B.S. degree in Business Administration
from Hawaii Pacific University. Her sculptures have been exhibited in juried art
exhibits on Oahu and Maui.
Gail is also the owner of Creative Clay Company which coordinates
and teaches clay hand-building classes for adults and children and she has taught
classes at the Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, several private and public schools on Oahu, the girl scouts, and
for the home schoolers. Gail also worked as one of the Gallery Directors for
Hawaii Pacific University from 1987-1993 and is a past board member of the
Friends of the Contemporary Museum in Honolulu and Hawaii Craftsmen.

Employment History:
1981 – present: Owner, Creative Clay Company, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Set up and teach clay handbuilding after-school programs and workshops for
children ages 3 to 12 in several schools on Oahu. Also offer educational ceramic
workshops for teachers in these schools. Trained four other teachers to
assist me in teaching this program.
1987 – 1993 – Gallery Director at the Gallery at Hawaii Pacific University,
Hawaii Loa Campus, Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Managed the gallery and supporting activities; developed and scheduled art
exhibits. Organized receptions; managed opening night sales of art work.
Maintained client lists, budget accountability, food & wine inventory.
Designed and constructed exhibits when needed. Hostess receptions.
1987 – 1993 – Board of Directors, Gallery at Hawaii Pacific University,
Hawaii Loa Campus. Assisted in the management of gallery business as
described above.
1985 – Instructor, Waolani Judd School, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Taught clay handbuilding workshop for teachers in the school to expand their
skill and knowledge in the use of clay.
1983 – Instructor, Juvenile Detention Home, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Instructor of clay handbuilding workshop for children in juvenile home.
Purposes of the workshop were: education, recreation and encouragement for
the children so that, just as they shaped the clay, so could they shape
their own lives into something better.
1982 – Instructor, Epiphany Episcopal School. Honolulu, Hawaii.
Taught clay handbuilding workshop for teachers in the school to expand their
skill and knowledge in the use of clay.
